Hi Prestonposse,

Mt first thought is the Humax, can you attach the optical cable directly and see if the issue occurs there?

You may need to change the SPDIF/Digital Audio/ out to normal/PCM/stereo or if its a newer box set Dolby to off.

I would also be interested to see if we can try any other device either via Bluetooth or AUX and see if it still happens.

We are dealing with one of three things listed below in order of likelihood:

1. The bar is turning itself off/disabling optical to protect itself from an errant signal, most likely from the TV.
2. The bar is turning itself off/disabling optical due to a fault, it would be unusual for this to be so regular and/or not to happen fairly quickly. It also should affect every source/input, not just optical.
3. The TV itself has a fault and stops outputting audio or starts outputting an incorrect signal, this is unusual but not unheard of.

With that in mind I think it will help if you could give me the model number of the TV and Humax box, and details of any Consoles or Blu Rays etc.

Hi Simon.  I've done some more investigating today.  The problem also happens with Bluetooth input, in this case from an iPad, though perhaps not as frequently as the optical input.  The M12 ran for about 4 hours today with Bluetooth input and then switched itself off (iPad still outputting, Bluetooth connection still established).

I tried connecting the optical lead directly to the Humax box, rather than the TV.  It ran for 4 hours and then the M12 switched itself off.  I immediately switched the M12 back on and the sound returned.  However, after another 35 minutes the M12 switched itself off again.  This time when I turned the M12 back on again the sound remained off.  I left the M12 switched on and  the sound returned to the M12 after about 10 minutes.

The TV is a Toshiba.  The Humax box is Foxsat-HDR.

I've had the M12 for a few years now.

Hope this helps.
