Why can the bar/speaker not learn my Panasonic, Sony, Philips etc. remote.

There are two reasons why a bar would be unable to learn a remote. The first is that the bars can only learn standard Infra Red remotes.

Therefore a Smart, Bluetooth, Radio Frequency or similar remote can not be learned. The good news s most TV's have a standard Infra Red remote and a secondary Smart (non Infra Red Remote).

The second reason is non standard Infra Red. Most remote controlled devices work by using a set of pulses usually two.

Some remotes/manufacturers use as many as 5 pulses for a command.

Orbitsound bars/speakers cannot recognise these extra pulses, as such in some cases a remote cannot be learned or causes strange behaviour once learned. In most cases switching to a Sky/Virgin/Other remote will fix this.

As always a "true" universal remote such as a Logitech Harmony is likely a better option.
